Pet Procedure For Import & Export (MAS)

Exporting live animals out of Malaysia.

Procedures

Make your booking with MASkargo Reservation Department by calling 03-87771655/54
Prepare all the necessary documents

Bring your pets to the Animal Hotel at least 4 hours prior to flight departure time.
Documents needed

Health certificate

An original certificate, issued by a private or government Veterinarian, stating that 'the pet is healthy and free from any contagious or infectious disease at the time of inspection' is required for all pet/s entering/leaving Malaysia.


Please note that certification is only valid for 7 days.

Export permit

Obtainable from Jabatan Perkhidmatan Haiwan, Malaysia.

Import permit

Obtainable from country of destination. Shippers must produce fax copy of the Import Permit.

Rabies Vaccination Certification (If required)

Microchip Number

Some countries require microchip to be implanted on live animals before importation is possible eg. Hong Kong


Charges

*Terminal charges (RM0.25/KG) on chargeable weight.
*Animal Hotel Charges based on type and category of animals (as attached)
*Accommodation charges RM150 per day (more than 8 hours stay in Animal Hotel)
*If using Animal Hotel airway bill, to include following charges

*Freight charge based on volume or actual weight, whichever higher
*AWB charges RM5.00
*Fuel surcharge
*Security surcharge

Packing/cage requirements

Cage must be suitable for the animal. For example, animals must have enough space to turn about, stand, and sit erect, and lie down in a natural position.
Water container must be present within the container with outside access for refilling.
Food containers must be present either within the container, if sealed or attached to it, in case of any flight delay.

Cut off time

Four (4) hours prior to flight departure.

Importing live animals into Malaysia.

Procedures

1. Obtain Import Permit from Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Haiwan) and fax it to origin before departure.

2. Make booking with MASkargo

3. Must agree to accept shipment before booking can be confirmed. (MASkargo Animal Hotel will contact consignee)

4. Consignee can engage an agent or do their own clearance. Eg. Custom clearance and quarantine clearance

5. Consignee or its agent must produce the original Import Permit for clearance.

Documents needed

3. KLIA Animal Quarantine operational hours; 8:00am to 17:00pm


The Department of Veterinary Services, KLIA Animal Quarantine Stations request that clients book their animals on flights arriving in KLIA between the hours of 8:00am and 17:00pm. It is a very suitable time for the KLIA Animal Quarantine to facilitate the boarding and physical examination of the animals during day time. Please take note, due to recent mortality case of a dog in our custody that arrived after midnight, our Chief Senior Assistant Director, Biosecurity and SPS Management Division, Dr. Norlizan b. Md. Noor have granted the approval of KLIA Animal Quarantine operational hours, between 8:00am and 17:00pm. This new rule and regulation takes effect starting on 1stJuly 2012.

4. Post Mortem

Unfortunately, the government veterinarian could not assist in the post mortem of transit animal at the Animal Hotel. However, these are the list of private veterinary hospitals/clinics that can be contacted:

5. Import Permit/ Health certificate

Any animal inbound to Malaysia, the animals must have an Import Permit and Health Certificate endorsed by a Government Veterinarian. We have been receiving many cases lately where animals entering Malaysia without import permit and health certificate endorsed by Government certificate, particularly from Europe (Norway and Belgium). This is to notify the public that Malaysia cannot accept PET Passport yet.
